Becoming a speech-language pathologist typically requires a Master's degree from an accredited program, passing a national exam, and gaining the necessary clinical experience before being able to practice. Speech-language pathologists should earn a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), offered by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Effective communication and socialization are key, making being an SLP a valuable profession. According to the BLS, SLP jobs will continue to see substantial growth. The salary of an SLP depends on education, location, and experience, but they are typically well compensated.
