As a speech-language pathologist assistant, your responsibilities will typically include:
- Implementing tasks on the patients’ therapy plans
- Assisting in patient development of language, oral, and communication skills
- Record patient progress
- Communicating with SLPs on how the treatment plans are progressing
- Observing patient needs on an individualized scale
When wanting to practice as a speech-language pathologist assistant, it’s required to have a Bachelor’s degree in speech therapy or an Associate degree, plus required clinical hours. Other courses, certifications and requirements may be required and vary based on the state you will practice.
