Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) – Kentucky

Location: Remote (Must be licensed in Kentucky)

Type: Contract (1099)

Hours: Full-time or Part-time

Salary: Competitive

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Remote Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized educational services to students with visual impairments in Virginia. As a 1099 independent contractor, you will work remotely to deliver personalized instruction, support, and guidance to students, helping them achieve their educational goals and develop essential skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities, in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and accommodations to meet each student's unique needs.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other professionals to support student learning and development.
  • Create and adapt educational materials and resources to accommodate students' visual impairments.
  • Participate in virtual meetings and IEP team discussions to contribute to the development and review of IEPs and 504 Plans.
  • Provide training and support to parents and school staff regarding the needs and best practices for students with visual impairments.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Vision Rehabilitation, or a related field.
  • Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification/license in KY.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of visual impairment strategies, assistive technologies, and educational accommodations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a remote work schedule effectively.
  • Proficient in using virtual platforms and educational technology for remote instruction.
