Job Description
Position: Reading Specialist
Location: Racine, WI
Duration: Contract | CSY | ASAP – June 2025
Grade Level: Middle School
Engagement as a Reading Specialist offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives through tailored educational support. This role focuses on providing specialized reading instruction to a middle school student with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), aimed at addressing challenges associated with reading skills that are five grades below level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct 1:1 assessments to evaluate the reading capabilities and needs of the student.
- Develop and implement personalized lesson plans that align with the student's IEP goals.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to enhance reading comprehension and fluency.
- Monitor and document the student's progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary to meet evolving needs.
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and support staff to create a cohesive learning experience.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in reading instruction.
Qualifications:
- Active Reading Specialist Certification.
- Master's degree in K-12 Reading Specialist Preparation.
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) for the relevant grade levels.
- Experience working with students who have individualized education plans is preferred.
