Becoming a school physical therapist requires you to obtain a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and participate in an internship under a licensed clinician. After receiving your doctorate, you will need to obtain a license in the state you will be practicing in. To do this, you will need to pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) which is given by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). Depending on the state you are receiving your license in, you may have other requirements such as compliance training, and background checks. Once you complete the requirements above, you can begin your career as a licensed physical therapist. Keep in mind that most states require continuing education requirements every two years to maintain your license.
