Job Description
An opportunity exists for a skilled Registered Nurse to support students in a K-12 educational setting in Washington, DC. This contract position requires a dedicated professional capable of providing comprehensive care to a non-verbal elementary student experiencing intense seizure activity.
Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia RN licensure
- Experience in school nursing, particularly with K-12 students
- Strong assessment skills regarding different seizure types and care requirements
- Ability to perform g-tube feedings and assist with mobility using a gait trainer
- Previous experience handling complex medical cases in a school or clinical setting
Location:
Washington, DC
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor the health needs of the student, particularly related to seizure activity
- Provide appropriate nursing care and support during and after seizures
- Collaborate with educational staff to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment
- Administer g-tube feedings as required and maintain accurate medical records
- Ride the bus with the student to provide continuity of care throughout the school day
