Remote Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (1099 Contractor)

Location: Remote (Licensed in Ohio)

Job Type: Full-Time, Independent Contractor (1099)

About Us: We are  committed to providing high-quality educational services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Our mission is to support and empower these students through innovative and personalized instruction, ensuring they reach their full academic potential.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team as a full-time independent contractor. In this remote role, you will deliver specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, collaborating with families and educational teams to facilitate effective learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and educational staff.
  • Utilize various instructional strategies and technologies to support students' learning and communication.
  • Assess students' progress and adjust instructional methods as needed to meet their evolving needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to families, teachers, and other professionals involved in the student's education.
  • Stay current with best practices in deaf education and integrate new methods and technologies into your teaching.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education (state-specific certification required).
  • Proven experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a remote classroom effectively.
  • Proficiency with digital teaching tools and online communication platforms.
