What Is A Medical-Surgical Nurse?

  • Preparing and administering medications and other treatments
  • Maintaining and updating patient records
  • Evaluating patient care plans
  • Monitoring vital signs
  • Adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed

To work as a med-surg nurse, you are required to have at least an associate’s degree in nursing and two years of nursing experience.

After gaining the experience necessary, you can become eligible to obtain your Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) which can help you advance in your career and increase your pay.
