Job Description

A hospital in Louisville, KY has open jobs for RN's in their Intensive Care Unit. This is a 13 week contract job. Both day and night shifts available. Must have active KY or compact license, BLS, ACLS certifications. 2 years recent ICU experience required.

What is an ICU Nurse?

ICU nurses treat patients who require the utmost care due to critical conditions. Unlike an ER RN, this role will typically only see a few patients per day so they can provide their full attention to the details of each patient. Due to the extensive documentation per patient, ICU RNs typically see 1-3 patients per shift so they can provide thorough and detailed care.

ICU Nurse Duties

  • Some of the responsibilities of ICU nurses can include:
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress of patients
  • Diagnosing and treating patients by ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests
  • Administering medication
  • Maintaining patients records

To be an ICU RN, you must complete the same degree and credentialing requirements as a registered nurse. In addition to those requirements, candidates must have experience in patient care and have earned a Certified Critical Care Nurse certificate through AACN.
