Job Description

Vocovision is seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Alabama under a 1099 contract! You will play a critical role in helping students with hearing impairments access education in virtual classrooms. You’ll interpret lessons, interactions, and discussions in real-time, ensuring students have an equitable learning experience. You'll work directly with teachers, staff, and students to ensure clear communication and academic success in a remote learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide remote Sign Language interpretation for students in virtual classrooms.
Facilitate communication between students and educators to ensure effective learning.
Interpret in real-time for various subjects, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
Collaborate with school staff to ensure the needs of students with hearing impairments are met.
Attend IEP meetings and provide feedback as needed.
Ensure proper documentation of services provided.

Qualifications:

Active Alabama Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License required.
Proven experience interpreting for K-12 students in an educational setting.
Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and remote interpreting technology.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
