Job Description

Vocovision is seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Alabama under a 1099 contract! You will play a critical role in helping students with hearing impairments access education in virtual classrooms. You’ll interpret lessons, interactions, and discussions in real-time, ensuring students have an equitable learning experience. You'll work directly with teachers, staff, and students to ensure clear communication and academic success in a remote learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote Sign Language interpretation for students in virtual classrooms.
  • Facilitate communication between students and educators to ensure effective learning.
  • Interpret in real-time for various subjects, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure the needs of students with hearing impairments are met.
  • Attend IEP meetings and provide feedback as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation of services provided.

Qualifications:

  • Active Alabama Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License required.
  • Proven experience interpreting for K-12 students in an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and remote interpreting technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
