Special Education Teacher

Location: Near Evanston/ Wilmette, IL

Position Type: Full-Time, Contract, W2 with benefits (optional)

Job Description:
Sunbelt Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team near Wilmette, IL. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs.
Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure effective educational strategies and accommodations.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to address students’ diverse learning styles and needs.
Monitor and assess student progress, and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
Provide direct instruction and support in both individual and small group settings.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate educational goals and strategies.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and academic achievement.
Stay current with best practices and trends in special education.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
Proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
