Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia Teacher Certification with endorsement in SPED-Blindness/Visual Impairments (PreK-12).
  • Strong understanding of functional vision assessments and learning assessments.
  • Ability to interpret eye medical reports in the context of educational needs.
  • Experience developing IEPs with appropriate goals and modifications.
  • Proficient in providing consultation and strategies to classroom teachers for students with visual impairments.
  • Expertise in using and instructing students with low vision devices.

Location:

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional vision and learning assessments.
  • Collaborate with educators to interpret medical reports and implement educational strategies.
  • Assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Consult with classroom teachers, providing them with resources and modified materials.
  • Monitor and report on student progress regarding their IEP goals.
  • Instruct students in the use of low vision devices to enhance their learning experiences.
