Position: Teacher - Deaf / Hard of Hearing
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Duration: Full Semester | Contract

An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide essential support in an educational setting. This role involves working closely with students, their families, and a collaborative team of professionals to foster an inclusive and conducive learning environment. Key responsibilities include offering tailored educational strategies, managing individual cases, and actively participating in meetings and assessments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on each student's unique needs.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring effective learning outcomes.
  • Conduct case management activities, including tracking progress and adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Special Education Team and parents to align on goals and strategies for student success.
  • Participate in case conferences and other meetings, offering insights and updates regarding student progress.
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods and tools to engage effectively with students and families.

Qualifications:

  • Indiana Teaching License for Deaf and Hard of Hearing or comparable certification.
  • Strong understanding of special education practices and strategies for Deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Ability to work independently while also being an active part of a support network.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
