Job Title: Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH)

Position Overview: We are assisting a K-12 school district in Michigan set up interviews for their Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) to support students with hearing impairments in their educational journey. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students across diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments in a virtual classroom setting.
  2. Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  3. Collaborate with students, families, and educational teams to ensure effective communication and student progress.
  4. Utilize technology and digital resources to enhance learning experiences and accessibility.
  5. Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  6. Provide guidance and support to classroom teachers and educational staff on best practices for working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  7. Stay informed about advancements in deaf education, assistive technology, and accessibility accommodations.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  2. Valid state teaching certification in Deaf Education or Special Education with a focus on hearing impairment.
  3. Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a remote setting.
  4. Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or other forms of communication used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  5. Strong understanding of deaf culture, language development, and assistive technology.
  6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs in a remote environment.
