Full-Time Licensed Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Opportunity – Waco, TX

The Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) will work directly with students who have visual impairments, providing specialized instruction, assessments, and support to ensure their success in the academic and social environments of the school. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, including instruction in Braille, low vision devices, and adaptive technology.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure accessibility of materials and curriculum modifications.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' needs and progress.
  • Offer support and training to staff, parents, and families on visual impairment-related issues.
  • Advocate for the needs of students with visual impairments within the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Vision Rehabilitation, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the state of Texas (or eligibility for certification).
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Braille, low vision devices, and assistive technology.
