Job Description

Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and clear interpretation of spoken language into sign language for K-12 students.
  • Facilitate communication between students and staff in both onsite and virtual settings.
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the diverse needs of students across various grade levels.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interactions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to enhance the educational experience for students requiring sign language support.
  • Participate in regular training and professional development to stay current with best practices and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4.0 EIPA score and successful completion of the written test or RID certification.
  • Proven experience working in a school setting with K-12 students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students and staff.
  • Proficiency in using technology for virtual interpreting when necessary.

  • Olympia, WA (onsite or virtual options available).
