Job Description

Dynamic opportunity available for a skilled professional with expertise in sign language interpretation. This contract position is designed for the upcoming school year, focusing on providing essential support to a middle school student through a one-on-one setting. The role is based in Seattle, WA, and requires a commitment of 32.5 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • Current EIPA certification with a minimum score of 4.0.
  • Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly with middle school-aged students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to adapt interpretation techniques to meet the unique needs of the student.
  • Knowledge of educational practices and terminology relevant to middle school.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).

Location:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services for the assigned student, facilitating communication in all academic settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure the effective integration of the student into the classroom.
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings and other required school events as necessary.
  • Maintain professional standards and ethics in all interactions and interpretations.
  • Continuously assess and adjust interpretation methods to align with the students needs.
