Engage students in a K-12 educational environment by providing essential communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter. This role focuses on facilitating access to the curriculum for deaf or hard-of-hearing students in an elementary to high school setting.

Location: Rockford, IL

Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation and translation services in American Sign Language (ASL) for students across all grade levels.
• Collaborate with educators and staff to create an inclusive learning environment tailored to students needs.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and records of services provided, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
• Support students in developing effective communication skills and foster social interactions within the school community.

Qualifications:

• IL Board of Education Approval as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings, particularly with elementary and high school students.
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of deaf culture.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
