Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of School Nursing to lead and oversee the health programs across our school network. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of school nursing experience, with demonstrated leadership skills in managing and improving health services within a school environment.
This is a 12-month position, not following the school holiday calendar, with a combination of in-school and possible work-from-home flexibility depending on the schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and oversee the school's health programs in collaboration with medical authorities and school leaders.
- Develop, implement, and monitor health policies and procedures to ensure that they align with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health regulations, including immunization requirements and other mandated health screenings.
- Lead and manage the network-wide health team, providing direct supervision and leadership for all school nurses.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health programs and services, ensuring proper documentation and accurate record-keeping.
- Train, coach, and develop nurses, individually and as a team, to enhance performance and ensure best practices in school health services.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of nursing and other health-based staff.
- Provide a clear vision, mission, and leadership for the health team, ensuring alignment with the network’s goals and the School Support Services (SSS) department objectives.
- Collaborate regularly with school staff, parents, students, and instructors to identify and address social, emotional, and physical needs of students.
- Act as a liaison between school administration, medical authorities, and child support agencies to promote student health and well-being.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of school nursing experience, with proven leadership in managing health programs.
- Illinois PEL required (school will not interview without this)
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required, with additional certifications in school nursing preferred.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with school staff, parents, and students.
- Experience in developing policies, training, and supporting a team of health professionals.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
Additional Information:
- This position is a 12-month, full-time role, which does not follow the school holiday calendar.
- The position involves 5 days in school, with potential flexibility for work-from-home depending on the schedule and needs.
- Competitive salary of $110,000 - $120,000 per year.
