An opportunity exists for educators with expertise in reading intervention and creative writing within a high school setting. This position is designed for a dynamic professional ready to make a meaningful impact on students' literacy and expression from now until June 13, 2025.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
• Valid Special Education certification
• Proven experience in teaching reading intervention, particularly with high school students
• Strong background in teaching creative writing
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs)

Location:

• Washington, DC

Responsibilities:

• Teach sections of Reading Intervention to 9th and 10th graders, focusing on enhancing literacy skills
• Develop and implement curriculum for Creative Writing electives for 11th and 12th graders
• Collaborate with fellow educators and support staff to create a comprehensive learning environment
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet diverse needs
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP progress
• Engage students in a supportive and dynamic classroom atmosphere
