Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Valid Special Education certification
  • Experience teaching reading intervention strategies
  • Strong background in teaching writing, particularly at the high school level
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Location:
Washington, DC

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement curriculum for reading intervention and creative writing
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and support staff to enhance student learning
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as available

This position runs from ASAP until June 13, 2025, with a commitment of 40 hours per week. Educators will teach various sections of reading intervention to 9th and 10th graders, as well as creative writing electives to 11th and 12th graders.
