Job Title: Reading Specialist

An opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and skilled Reading Specialist to provide targeted support for a middle school student in Lake Villa, IL. This position is ideal for those who are passionate about enhancing literacy skills and fostering a love for reading among students. The role focuses on individualized instruction, allowing for personalized strategies that cater to unique learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging reading interventions tailored to a middle school student functioning five grades below level.
  • Conduct regular assessment and progress monitoring to evaluate student advancements and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to support the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
  • Create a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages student confidence and enthusiasm for reading.
  • Provide feedback and resources to the student and their family, promoting literacy beyond the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Current Reading Specialist Certification.
  • Master's degree in Education with a focus on K-12 Reading Specialist Preparation.
  • Valid PEL Certification.
  • Proven experience working with students with IEPs, particularly in a 1:1 setting.

  • Lake Villa, IL (Position serves a middle school student).
