An opportunity exists for a dedicated Reading Specialist to provide targeted support to a middle school student in Elgin, IL. The ideal candidate will possess the skills and qualifications necessary to facilitate effective reading interventions for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This part-time role offers the chance to make a significant impact on a student's educational journey, helping them to overcome challenges associated with reading proficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individualized assessments to determine reading levels and needs.
  • Develop and implement tailored lesson plans aligned with the student's IEP goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies and resources to enhance reading skills.
  • Monitor and track progress, adjusting approaches as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Collaborate with school staff and guardians to support the student's educational experience.
  • Provide feedback and documentation as required to meet IEP and school standards.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Reading Specialist Certification.
  • Master's degree in K-12 Reading Specialist Prep Program.
  • PEL Certification.
  • Experience working with middle school students, particularly those with learning disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and families.
