Job Description

In an inclusive educational environment, the role of a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) is vital in supporting students from Pre-K to 12th grade. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with hearing disabilities by implementing tailored instructional programs that align with their individual needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an instructional program that meets the diverse needs of students based on their IEPs.
  • Create, modify, and assess IEP goals to track student progress and ensure effective learning outcomes.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of assessments and evaluations to monitor student achievement.
  • Design and implement appropriate learning strategies and select suitable materials for instruction.
  • Manage learning time effectively to enhance student engagement and maximize achievement.
  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to coordinate instructional activities and support services.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia Special Education License with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with students in an itinerant position across various grade levels.
  • Strong ability to develop and implement IEPs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of current educational practices and strategies for students who are DHH.

This position is available as a contract role, requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week, with a workload of 7 hours per day, starting ASAP and continuing through June 2025.
