Job Description

In this role, the School Adjustment Counselor will play a crucial part in fostering a supportive educational environment by addressing students' social-emotional and behavioral needs. This position involves collaborating with school personnel and families to create a comprehensive support system that enhances student learning and well-being.

Location: Worcester, MA
Duration: School Year, Contract Position

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement program plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Serve as a consultant for school staff in creating a therapeutic climate and evaluating programs aimed at emotional and educational support.
  • Set individual goals for students and conduct weekly meetings to discuss their progress and challenges.
  • Lead weekly social skills groups that promote positive interactions and self-awareness among students.
  • Act as a liaison among the school, parents, community organizations, and outside agencies to facilitate student success.
  • Initiate and develop strategies to increase parent engagement school-wide.
  • Establish and implement the schools Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Valid school counseling or social work license.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly with elementary students.
  • Strong understanding of social-emotional learning frameworks and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
