Job Description

Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our dedicated team at Sunbelt. As an SLPA, you will work alongside our licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students with communication and language disorders. Your role will be instrumental in helping students overcome speech and language barriers and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the SLP to assess and identify students' speech and language needs.
  • Assist in implementing individualized therapy plans and interventions designed by the SLP.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group therapy sessions to students, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Utilize appropriate therapeutic techniques and tools to enhance students' speech and language skills.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, adjusting therapy approaches as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to develop strategies for supporting students' communication skills in the classroom.
  • Assist in conducting screenings and evaluations to identify students who may require speech and language services.
  • Help create and maintain documentation of therapy sessions, progress reports, and other necessary records.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or certification in Speech Language Pathology Assistant program.
  • Valid SLPA license or certification in Oregon.
  • Prior experience working as an SLPA in a school or clinical setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of speech and language development, disorders, and therapy techniques.
  • Familiarity with various assessment tools and therapy materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students overcome communication challenges.
