Job Description

Respiratory Therapist – NICU (Nights) – Akron, Ohio

We are currently hiring a Respiratory Therapist with NICU experience for a 13-week contract in Akron, Ohio. This position will be responsible for providing respiratory care in the NICU, PICU, and CVICU, working with pediatric patients. You will be required to assess, treat, and manage respiratory conditions in these critical care areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients in NICU, PICU, and CVICU settings.
  • Perform assessments of patient respiratory status, including arterial blood gases, lung function, and oxygenation levels.
  • Administer medications, including nebulizers, inhalers, and aerosol treatments.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Provide ventilation support and management of complex respiratory equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide resuscitation and stabilization as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ohio RRT license (in hand or willingness to obtain)
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification
  • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience
  • Willingness to obtain any additional certifications if required

This position requires a night shift schedule for a 13-week contract. No on-call duty is required. The selected candidate will be expected to work directly with pediatric patients and provide respiratory interventions in critical care settings.

Candidates should be prepared to provide two professional references, including one from a management-level source. Flu vaccination is required, or an AMN pre-approved declination may be provided.
