We are seeking a passionate and qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) who thrives in a remote work environment to support our mission. Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine students' educational needs and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments, including braille instruction, orientation and mobility training, and assistive technology.
  • Provide virtual instruction and support through synchronous and asynchronous learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with educational teams, including parents, caregivers, and other professionals, to support student learning and development.
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Attend and actively participate in virtual team meetings, professional development, and training sessions.

Requirements:
 

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Visual Impairments or a related field
  • Valid Ohio Teaching License with endorsement in Visual Impairments or ability to obtain one.
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (CTVI) preferred.
  • Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, including proficiency in braille instruction and assistive technology.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation for students with visual impairments.
  • Comfortable using technology for instruction and communication (Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.).
  • Must be comfortable as an independent contractor  (1099)

Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in a remote or virtual setting.
  • Familiarity with additional disabilities often associated with visual impairments (e.g., deaf, blindness).
  • Knowledge of accessible educational resources and tools.
  • Must be able to pass technical screening
  • General Liability insurance required prior to start date
