Fully Virtual School Social work opportunity in Michigan
Job Type: Full Time
Position Overview: As a Virtual School Social Worker, you will work remotely to provide comprehensive social-emotional support to students, families, and staff. You will play a critical role in addressing students' mental health needs, facilitating access to resources, and promoting a positive virtual school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Counseling & Support: Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students via virtual platforms. Address issues such as anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and interpersonal conflicts.
- Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention in cases of crisis or urgent emotional need. Develop and implement safety plans when necessary.
- Family Engagement: Work with families to provide guidance and resources to support their child’s social-emotional development and academic success. Maintain regular communication and offer parenting resources.
- Collaboration: Partner with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to identify students in need of additional support. Participate in team meetings and contribute to individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
- Resource Management: Connect students and families with community resources, mental health services, and support programs. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of available resources.
- Training & Development: Provide training and workshops for staff and families on topics related to mental health, social-emotional learning, and effective communication.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, progress, and case management activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid Michigan Social Work License (LMSW) is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in school social work, counseling, or related fields. Experience in a virtual or remote setting is preferred.
