You have survived the hot summer weather, and maybe you’re ready for a change of seasons. Fall is in the air, and that means football games, Halloween and cool weather. It’s a great time of year to be on a healthcare travel assignment. Take advantage of working as a traveler in the autumn and consider some of the following ways to enjoy the season.
- Pick a Pumpkin: Pumpkin patches are not just for kids. Regardless of what part of the country you are in, there are bound to be pumpkin patches during the month of October. Take a hayride or just walk around and find the best pumpkin to carve, paint or just sit on your doorstep.
- Throw a Halloween Party: When else could you dress up as anything you want and not get funny looks? OK you still may get funny looks, but Halloween is a fun time of year to throw a party, get in costume and get to know your fellow healthcare travelers or new coworkers.
- See a Football Game: Fall means football season. Whether you’re a big fan or have never been to a game, consider going to see a football game in your new town. You might get in the spirit of things and find a new love for the game.
- Go Apple Picking: Autumn is the perfect time of year to head out to a local farm and go apple picking. Lots of farms have extra activities during this time of the year, such as Halloween events and autumn celebrations.
- Attend a Local Oktoberfest, Harvest Festival or Thanksgiving Celebration: Explore your new city or town and find out what festivals are annual traditions. Try attending something new.
- Check out the Fall Foliage: The vibrancy of the autumn leafs may vary depending on what part of the country you’re in. In some areas, the fall foliage is a major tourist attraction.
- Take a Walk through a Corn Maze: Head to a local corn maze and try to find your way out. Consider inviting some of your new coworkers and get to know each other in a fun setting.
- Volunteer at a Haunted House: If you’re new to the area, what better way to meet new people, than dressing as a zombie and screaming in their face? Seriously, working at a haunted house can be a fun way to enjoy the season, meet lots of new people and even let off some steam.
- Enjoy Local Fall Foods: Butternut squash soup, warm pumpkin bread and hot apple cider are only a few of the comforting fall foods to try. Ask you new coworkers or neighbors where you can find some of the best local fall favorites to try.
