Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Location: Jay, Florida
Position Type: 13 week Travel Contract
Schedule: Primarily Sunday-Tuesday - 19:00-7:00
As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Jay, FL, you will be responsible for conducting clinical laboratory tests, ensuring accurate and timely results for diagnostic purposes. You will handle patient specimens, perform laboratory analyses, and work within established procedures to provide high-quality results. This role does not involve blood bank or microbiology tasks but requires strong phlebotomy skills. The ideal candidate will be capable of working the night shift and adjusting to schedule changes as needed.

A medical technologist, also known as a med tech, works in hospitals and labs to perform a variety of tests to help doctors diagnose patients. On a day-to-day basis, a med tech will prepare cultures, collect tissue samples, analyze bodily fluids, review lab reports, and more. Since doctors diagnose patients based on the lab tests a med tech performs, it is crucial to be accurate and precise in this field.

To become a medical technologist and perform these duties, at a minimum, you must earn a bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field. Although not required if you would like to advance in your career, a master’s degree can be beneficial. After receiving your degree, you will want to get hands-on experience in the field and take courses to familiarize yourself with technologist practices. Once familiarized, you can take an exam to obtain your certification from the American Medical Technologist agency and any other state-leveled required certifications.
