Job Description

Qualifications:
- Relevant experience as a Paraprofessional or RBT
- Strong understanding of K-12 education systems

- Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician is a plus
Responsibilities:

Paraprofessionals work closely with certified and licensed school professionals. As a paraprofessional, you will work in a variety of education environments, primarily in elementary schools providing extra one-on-one support for students in need. A paraprofessional teacher is able to strengthen a child’s learning experience and provide the consistent care and instruction needed to succeed. Paras also provide significant support to teachers through reiterating lessons to children, looking over and grading coursework, providing feedback and much more.
Paraprofessional Duties
As a paraprofessional, your responsibilities may include:
- Working under the direction of a licensed teacher to support their classrooms
- Developing individualized education programs for students
- Developing learning strategies for success
- Providing students with feedback or additional help in the classroom
- Using techniques like sign language, braille or remedial programs to evaluate students
To become a paraprofessional you must have an associate degree, complete two years of college or a technical school, or be able to pass an academic assessment on reading, writing and math. The requirements of becoming a para differ based on location, so please check the local requirements before applying.
